Thanks For Reading
I so rarely use this blog space for anything new and original, I might shut it down soon. In the meantime, though, here's another redirection to the Boston Herald. Today I grouse about the way people applaud.
Really. I'm in total old fart grousing mode.
Thanks for reading! I would say, "Soon, with more better stuff" but I don't want to insult your intelligence.

If you close this page where will we know where to go! Please keep this page going even if for redirection because even those posts are a delight to read.
Agreeing with Absolut Buiness -- please continue to let us know here when you have something published. After all, i cannot comment on the Boston Herald system, they only allow comments through Facebook (and 49% of people in the US do not have a Facebook account, so they are cutting themselves off from comment by half the population, which might or might not be a good thing, maybe that's your subject for another post) and i don't do Facebook.
You are right about audiences overreacting. It's like giving everyone a trophy. A participation ribbon would be fine, and so would applause that lasted a moment or two to signal a good (but not over the top) performance.
The prophetic song, 'Who Let The Dogs Out' comes to mind.
I hate laugh tracks, too.
The thing that's stopped me from watching television is the 'my ______ is SO STUPID!!!'
Fill in that blank with Mom, Dad, Sister, Brother, Teacher, Grandpa... it seems that we're a bunch of people who only laugh when someone is being hurt. And yes, words and the implications that someone lacks intelligence or some other quality are hurtful.
You can add me to the curmudgeon group. Except as a woman, you gotta call me an old bitch.
I wear that with pride.
Well, it seems most of my old blog-crowd has either quit, or hardly ever post anymore (and lord knows, I haven't exactly been cranking out the posts for the past couple years, either). But I still come around here, if only just to follow the links to the Herald. So, you know, what the others have said above. . .
I find the canned laugh-tracks annoying, too. It's like the producers don't trust me to know what's funny and what isn't.
With a heart of gold!

I guess when you write for a living writing for fun isn't at the top of the list of things to do.
No!!!!! Don't shut it down!
You've come too far to shut 'er down, my friend.
I agree with the others.
I don't blog hardly at all any more, but I know that there are a few who will still come around and visit me every now and then, so I haven't removed my blog or closed it.
Please... reconsider.
Hugs,
J.
Please---NO!! don't stop!! I just found you!! and I suspect Im an old fart (just like you?) and you make me laugh !!! Linda in Tn.
Now look what you've done!!! Revel in the panic! But you deserve it Jim, the Great!
Well, if you decide to un-blog yourself I shall be very sad, but I really hope you don't do it! I've enjoyed all the family stories and even though I don't follow sports, (except the Jays) I like reading about the exploits of all the sports teams that you follow.
Hey, Sul! Long time no read!
