Sports Stuff

That's what you'll find in my column today in the Boston Herald. However, if that's enough to stop you from heading over there, then maybe you're the sort of person I'm talking about in the column.

Aha! Did I intrigue you? Hope so.

Thanks for being such a loyal reader. I truly appreciate it.

Soon, with more better stuff.

You are one of the only sports writers i read. Yes, sports is exciting and thrilling, at least when a team i like and care about is playing.

Mimi - Thanks. A very nice compliment!

I've never had a problem with the Pat's as a team.
I've really only found one former player's behavior disturbing (understatement).
I really didn't like their old uniforms (red jerseys).
I still think Joe Montana was better.

Well, if you wanna talk about scripts that would be too cheesy for Hollywood (and it's a Boston one, too) - how about Ted Williams homering in his final at-bat? I know, you were two years old at the time; but still. . .

(And did-you-know - Babe Ruth had a three-homer game five days before he retired, for the then-Boston Braves. . .)

Unfortunately, for me, I was too tired to stay up till the wee hours to watch the game and quite possible by the end of the first half I might have given up anyway. The games tend to end between 3 and 4 a.m.! But it was a great joy to get the result very early a few hours later. Well done Patriots and especially
Tom Brady!

Great column, Sully -- as always!

I don't know. It seemed the drama in this year's Super Bowl was similar to the drama of pro rasslin'. If I had the mindset of a certain political leader I might think it was all rigged.

I almost didn't follow the link. :) Very good article. While I'm certainly not a sports hater, I am usually disinterested. But the SB was an enjoyable game and I'm glad I saw most of it to see that sort of history made.
