You Are Reading Suldog...
... but not for long.
You are cordially invited to go to The Boston Herald and read what I have to say over there.
(Aw, come on! I'd consider it a great favor on your part. The next time you tell me to go someplace, I'll... well, considering where you might tell me to go, I won't promise anything. But I'm not telling you to go someplace nasty; I'm just asking you to go to The Boston Herald and read what I have to say over there.)
As always, your kind comments and/or letters to the editor are sincerely appreciated and will earn you a dish of pistachio ice cream (with jimmies!) when I win my Pulitzer.
So, uh, go to The Boston Herald and read what I have to say over there.
Thanks! Here's my usual illiterate closer...
Soon, with more better stuff.

Yup, that's one of my pet peeves, also. I'd rather pay $8 a month to Netflix (or similar) and watch commercial and logo-free.
Sorry, Jim but for some reason, I can't find the link to leave a comment on the Herald this time.
I'm going to hold you to that pistachio ice cream!
I'm back. No place to leave comment on your piece. We got rid of cable TV several months ago and only use Netflix now. It works!
Apparently, the Herald has made some change to their commenting system and no comments are being allowed for now. Thanks for the efforts, though.
That is so true! Hilarious piece!!
Thanks, Ruby!
Went and read, enjoyed and agreed (although i don't watch TV, i know others who complain about this), and as noted above, there's no place to click to leave a comment.
Thank you, Mimi! It appears I would have had a lot of favorable comments, if the opportunity existed.
Good piece. As noted, one cannot leave comments on the article. I tried to figure it out before reading your comments here, should have saved myself the effort. (Note to self, read first, then ask questions...)
Our local "news"paper changed their comment section so that one has to use their facebook account to leave a comment.
So in one swell foop they killed meaningful dialog. Bam.
They're not listening. They don't care if you like the advertising that pops up on your screen. They don't care if you comment. They... don't care.
There are many trolls as pointed out above ^ but there is also an opportunity for discussion and deeper understanding.
I'm so glad that you wrote about this in your article at the Herald, Jim.
I'm also irritated at the banners that take up 1/3 or 1/4 of the TV screen at the bottom. What's with THAT!!? I have growled at that numerous times.
I wish I could have left a comment over there. I would have.
Hope you have a wonderful week.
Hugs,
J.
I agree Jim, I hate those transparent station logos on the screen, and the wretched pop up thingys, they just make me annoyed and I am determined NEVER to watch what they want me to watch.
And even more, during the News, there are all sorts of wiggly lines and stripes happening while the news man (or lady) is trying to get my attention about the latest protest march or what the Prime Minister said today. Just do away with the stupid wiggly lines, please!!! OlderSon works in a TV station, I've tried complaining to him but he just says the different TV stations are all trying to outdo each other with more and more fancy technologies. They don't realise that less is more.
Sports is about the only TV I watch, these days. Those football robot-guys are plenty annoying, fersure. . .
I loved your piece but to tell you the truth I can ignore those irritating in show ads really really well. Besides, most of the time the tv is on HGTV (I am ashamed to admit I don't even know what our remote even looks like, let alone be able to operate it).
Can we not comment on your columns any more? I was going to do my best to convince the paper management that you are the smartest writer ever and also make some gratuitous insults to the Patriots cuz like I like starting stuff like that. But I couldn't see anywhere to leave a comment.
Like your other fans, I couldn't find the comment button either. Whats up with that?
I dislike those same ads, along with the ads on any web site I happen to visit. They annoy me to no end. Interestingly, these ads have a little x on the top right corner, and if you click it, you have some options to let them know why you tried to remove it, but all that does is give them more info on what kind of ads you prefer...wtf? I don't want any!!
It appears that no column can be commented upon at the moment. I don't know if it's a temporary thing or permanent. I expect it's probably just some work being done on the system. Thanks for the thoughts, though!
Jim
loved it we b both share your sentiments (tho i dont watch Gotham .. i watched one episode and decided it wasn't my cuppa but Toonman loves it) .. wished i could have left a comment and i especially loved the YOU ARE READING THE BOSTON HERALD ... (mainly because i am slow and for a few paragraphs wasn't sure ... ) xo
I totally agree! TV programming has, with a very few exceptions, truly become the "vast wasteland*."
