I Don't Have A Title For This

OK, raise your hand if you watched the latest Republican debate on CNN.

Sorry. I can't see your hands, so you may as well put it down if you raised it. If you did watch it, however, bravo (or brava, depending on your sex.) You are one of the informed. You took the time to educate yourself about some of the choices available to you in upcoming elections. Even though you can't see my hands, I'm applauding you.

If you didn't watch it, you might have a very good reason. All sorts of things could have been going on in your life that were more important, such as something to do with your family or, perhaps, odd working hours. If, however, you didn't watch it because you've already made up your mind at this very early stage of things, then you might be one of the people I somewhat take to task in my latest Boston Herald column.

In said column - which you can find by clicking onto this easily indentifiable differently colored text - I give some opinions. It is, after all, a column on the op-ed pages. I would like to point out, though, that I only give my opinion two or three times. The rest of it is opinions of others. I tell you this because you may get additional entertainment from any comments taking me to task for some of the opinions expressed by others. I expect there could be a reader or two doing that.

Speaking of comments, I hope you'll make one there (or, bless your beautiful soul, via an actual letter to the editor, in which case you will have a solid invite to the party wherein I celebrate my Pulitzer - perhaps some time in 2034 - and where there will be free corn dogs, so you can obviously see how much I value your words on my behalf!)

Be that as it may - and I've found it usually is - I thank you for coming here, I thank you for reading, and if I end up offending you via my column somehow, I apologize (but insincerely.)

Soon, with more better stuff.

I had a meeting, but not sure I would have subjected myself to the debate if I had been at home. I am a liberal and find sitting through even Democratic debates painful. Yes, it is my duty to be aware of the people who want to run this country, but since they twist and distract and even lie, I find the whole process painful. If we could get the money out of this we might actually see who wants to do what. I am open minded enough to listen to Fiorina and Rubio and Kasich answers to questions as they do have mostly believable responses to 80% of the questions they get.

It's a scary world, and we don't own a TV any more, so i read summaries of the debates.

Sorry Jim, I just can't bring myself to take seriously anything political this far ahead of the election. I mean, when Donald Trump's opinion of Carly Fiorina's looks is the stuff of major headlines, I just shake my head and wonder what the hell is going on. . .

I'm solidly on record that the ultimate significance which so many people invest in politics is scary-ridiculous (probably even more scary than it is ridiculous, and it's plenty ridiculous).

I'll do my best to pay attention and make an informed choice come the election, but at this point, it's all just posturing and pomposity. Hopefully, at some point in the next 14 months, it will take on some degree of seriousness. Hopefully. . .

I intended to watch but had a church function that lasted longer than I expected. I like getting the info firsthand rather than hearing it filtered through someone else's brain. I love your column, though. You make us laugh and think at the same time - like a spoonful of sugar with the medicine! I left a comment, and was delighted to see it gave my real estate business a plug! I'll comment more often on your columns now! :)

Thank you so much for the kind and thoughtful commentary, folks. And especially for the comments at the website - those might keep them thinking I'm actually popular :-)

I was on the road and unable to comment on the Herald site after reading the column.
It's funny how F/B will work sometimes and not work other times ...like how I could comment where your link was.
Anyhow, I also missed the debate because I was at dinner with 1999 other people.
Seeing as how I am totally disappointed that campaigning has already started, I may just wait to the bitter end and vote for the last candidate to announce... who's still in the running.

I love the funny cat videos. It's way more fun than trying to sort out who is who in the USA race for the pres.

I'm with Criag. It's still a bit early......and I really dislike politics, and find watching a debate at this stage is similar to having bamboo shoots shoved under fingernails. As time marches onward, I promise I will pay more attention.
