Going Sleepy-Bye

To wrap up the day's events quickly, he was captured. We are fine and OK and thankful. We are going to sleep.

I wrote it up and submitted it to a local paper. It's obviously somewhat time sensitive, so I hope they take it and let me know quickly.

(If they don't, I think I may give up this writing thing. It's good, IMVHO.)

Thanks for sticking with me folks. If it's published, I'll let you know.

This is Radio Free Suldog, broadcasting on about thirty cups of coffee, signing off.

  1. I bet it will be. If you think it's good, it must be superb.

    Nitey, nite.

  2. Wow, glad it's over. Hiding in a boat in a backyard is not the smartest getaway vehicle.

  3. I'm glad you were able to experience it from the relative sidelines. Truly amazing what an awesome job the law enforcement teams and the whole city did to end this. Kudos to all of you! Get some rest, and don't stop writing, even if it's rejected.

  5. I'm still very glad, and very thankful that you and YOUR WIFE are safe & happy & sleepy in your snug little house tonight!

I hope you get a wonderful night's sleep, and have a lovely, relaxing weekend after YOUR WIFE gets home from work tomorrow! :)

  6. Sleep well, my friend! Am looking forward to reading your piece -- I'm sure it's brilliant... So relieved you all are safe and the manhunt is over. It's hard to imagine a city like Boston in lockdown...

  7. Well if anyone can do a good job on this...you can. You should send it out to wider newspapers if they don't grab it. It seems to me this being close to the story is always compelling.

  8. Many sympathies with the people of Boston, I'm glad it's all over for you. Perhaps this is a good time to reflect on the fact Boston was/is? a major contributor to the IRA.

  11. I hope your piece gets published, Jim. I want to read it, regardless of where it appears.

Sleep well... and then get out and buy some more e-ciggies.

  12. 'Tis a pity YOUR WIFE has to make up for her confinement
It doesn't seem right ...or fair
OTOH it's better that being stuck for a full weekend and y'all came away relatively unscathed

  16. Very glad you can now get on with your lives. Hope the cold-turkey absence from cigarettes perhaps is a long-term trend.

  19. Glad that you guys made it through without being overly traumatized. Some of the images and videos circulating on Facebook and YouTube chill my blood. And as I live (literally) right down the street from Watertown, I am so looking forward to moving away from the city, maybe somewhere out in the boonies, or at least close to it. (Which we were planning to do anyhow, but this seems just another reason to look forward to it.)

  20. Cannot imagine how it must have felt to open your door to that scene. Scary time for you all, we in the UK were all watching, crying, hoping and praying. Take care xx

  21. I actually think of you every day when I read my paper here in Phoenix. There's a writer, Clay Thompson, who has a daily column in the Arizona Republic. Sometimes he just rants about his dog, named Dumb, other times he answers questions readers have submitted but with a full helping of snark on the side. I've been meaning to write you about it because I could ABSOLUTELY see you doing something similar for the Herald or Globe. His voice reminds me a lot of you. If you want to check it out & maybe even get in touch with him about how he pitched it here's a link to his stuff http://www.azcentral.com/travel/articles/2012/08/02/20120802clay-thompson-send-me-your-ariz-musings-theories-queries.html

Let me know what happens because I don't want to see you give up the writing gig! You're too well voiced to stop trying to reach a larger audience.

And thank goodness you're both ok, unharmed and safe.

I'd prefer cash, but I'll take a comment.
