Sports News Of The Past!

In my continuing quest to bring you nothing but the best...

Hey! That rhymes! You've already gotten more value than I intended!

Anyway, I had a piece published in both Wareham and Rochester concerning the then-upcoming "Cranberry Bowl" high school football game between the Wareham Vikings and the Old Rochester Regional Bulldogs. It was a preview of the game, with lots of good quotes from both coaches. Here's where you can find it!

Cranberry Bowl preview - Wareham!

Cranberry Bowl preview - Old Rochester!

(Don't worry; you don't have to read it twice. They're both the same. It appeared in both local editions.)

In case you're wondering, Old Rochester won, 41 - 13.

In other old sports news, the New England Patriots beat the Indianapolis Colts, 31 - 24. That game featured perhaps the worst play call in the entire history of the National Football League. If you saw it, you'll never forget it. It was awesomely stupid. If you didn't see it, here is a video recreation.

Soon, with more better stuff.

I think I know more about MA high school sports than about the local schools, thanks to your keeping us posted about what you're writing.

They were supposed to confuse the defense and make a quick snap catching the Patriots with too many men on the field. If the Pats lined up correctly they were supposed to take a delay of game penalty. The center must not have understood the last part.

Pats are too well coached to fall for that trick.

A well written article that could probably be mirrored by a few high school matchups in this area. The rivalries are often taken very seriously.

Well done, Grantland Sullivan!

And congrats to ORR, getting off the schneid!

This was quite the weekend for star-crossed punt plays, wasn't it?

I think I've already mentioned that the game of American Football leaves me confused and dazed with big doses of not actually knowing what's going on. Doesn't matter if its High school, or College, or the big overpaid NFL, it means nothing to me.
However, in OTHER sports news, the Jays just won in a do or die game.... now back to KC and see if they can win 2 more! Go Jays!
