I'm Still Alive

I know some of you had to be wondering. I haven't been making the rounds much lately. For that, I apologize (but my apologizing for being a bad blog buddy is getting old, I'm sure, so I won't offer any excuses; I'll just say I'm sorry and I hope to be around more soon.)

The head cold, which became a chest cold, is now just a pain in the ass. Not literally, I'm glad to say, but in a figurative sense. I'm fine for most of each day, but have violent coughing fits two or three times a day that last five minutes each. It's partially about getting up the crap that settled in my chest (which I'm happy to report to those of you worried about me having pneumonia or something, the phlegm is mostly clear and non-threatening) but mostly about a tickle in my throat, like constant hay fever, that is annoying hell out of me. When this is gone, I think I'm going to wear gloves and a surgical mask everywhere I go. I am so frickin' tired of coughing. I've been doing it so violently for the past few days that I get a headache from it and my stomach muscles are cramping.

Part of it is my lack of exercise, too. I want to kill winter. This has been the crappiest cold weather ever. I want to get out a take some long walks, just to get my lungs pumping, but the combination of cold air and having a cold have made that an impossibility. We're expecting temps in the 50's soon (and about time) so I hope I'll walk, clear my lungs, and be back to what passes for normal around here.

OK, enough bitching. I've got paid work to do (the main reason for my not making myself visible at your place.) That's a good thing, he said, even though he was a lazy sod who preferred to lay on the couch watching Three Stooges movies.

Soon, with something or other.

Hoping you're back on your feet, without snow beneath them, soon.

Hopefully you have at least stopped smoking. I always waited for a cold to quit. My last cold was three years ago...so way my last cigarette.

Sounds like the cold is on its last leg. I'm so glad to hear that the symptoms are abating. I know that you will be glad when spring and summer are here and you can get back out to the ball field and get exercise the way you like it. Continue to take care of yourself.
We are right here....still rooting for you and yours and sending you all the best, my friend.
Hugs,
Jackie

My sinus stays in a constant uproar status! Just annoying as all get out. After as long as it has been acting up, I kind of think there must be something here I'm allergic to besides work. Just glad to know you didn't have pneumonia though. Now -get back to work on the writing.

I hate that you've been so sick, but glad to hear you have a paid gig! I'm going to put on my 'mom' hat and tell you to try Mucinex if you haven't already (the brand name stuff, not generic.. and make sure it's DM to soothe your cough) and then go ahead and take a walk in the cold. The exercise will help and the cold won't hurt. Hope you're completely well soon! Miss you!

I'm glad to hear you're still alive and hope ya get better soonest. I understand what it's like to be ill, so I sympathize.

Get well. And there's nothing wrong with laying on the couch watching Three Stooges movies. OK, maybe it's better to be watching Monty Python, but the Stooges can do in a pinch.

Get better!

I truly regret that you've been through such misery, but glad to see you're well enough to cough up another post (sorry.. pun intended).
Get totally well, soon!

i know its pointless to say this BUT if you would drink a lot of water you'd help flush your lungs and ease the coughing ....

Sorry you are still sick. But the fact you said paid writing work probably makes you feel a lot better, especially when all you have to do is work on your computer in your pajamas.

Various comments on this on the internet, some call it bogus, but

Vicks Vaporub on the bottoms of the feet covered with a sock before going to bed is supposed to stop the cough and let you sleep. It worked for Mrs. C the last couple of days and she has had a cough which seems similar to what you describe.

Last time I was sick like that (pneumonia) I cracked two ribs and tore muscles. It's not fun. Oh, and it made me pee my pants, too. Also not fun.

Feel better, Suldong.
hahahahahahaaaa

Oh my gosh, so sorry you've been sick!! That is miserable, and this winter along with it. I hope you feel better soon.

Oh I am sorry to hear about the cough, it is so horrid when it hangs on and on and you start to wonder whether you ever had a life before coughing. Glad it is not pneumonia, have 2 relatives who got it and it's not pretty as well as needing astoundingly long times in hospital.

Ohh, Sully, my commiserations -- coughs like that are so unpleasant, but it sounds at least like you are on the mend. I have been wondering where you'd got to.

That suggestion about Vicks Vapo-rub on the feet with a sock -- that's one for the books!

Mommy wisdom: When they are cranky, they are feeling better. That goes for husbands and children. So i'm glad to know you are feeling better, and hope the rest of the cough is gone soon.

Hang on. Summer will make you feel better. Unless you move to Texas. Then it will kill you. :)

I hope by the time you read this you are feeling much better-- and Spring is on the way. It's been a brutal winter. No wonder you can't shake that cold.
Hang in there,

Poor you. I hope you're feeling much better soon. You get a free pass from blog visiting for the next little while. Easy for me to say.. you were just here, one post ago. ;)

This winter has indeed been a biotch. I hope your cough clears up. I've had similar issues--a cold that turned into a sinus infection, and now the lingering annoyances (mostly lots and lots and lots of nosebleeds) just won't feck off.

We're expecting temps in the low 50's soon as well. It's like beach weather!!

Feel better. xoxo
