What's Your Entrance Music?

Wrestlers have entrance music. Most use chug-a-chug heavy metal.

Some entrances use classical music.

I think everybody should have entrance music. You walk into the office for the first time each day? Entrance music. You enter a restaurant? Entrance music. You go into a public restroom? Entrance music.

Come on! You can't tell me you wouldn't dig it. If your entrance music is Iron Man by Black Sabbath...

... you know every person taking a whiz will turn to see who just came into the room.

I've given a lot of thought to what I'd like to have as my entrance music.

(I have. That's why I'm the tremendous success I am today,)

For a long time, I thought it would be Highway Star by Deep Purple.

Why not? It's my favorite song by my favorite group. It's fast, loud, gritty, has a couple of great solos, really stoopid lyrics... What's not to love?

Then I thought about it some more. Everybody and his brother has something hard and heavy for entrance music. If it's not hard and heavy, it's pompous and classical. So, I decided I'd go with sexist and confusing!

Yup. That's my entrance music. And I do think everybody should have one, so there.

If you could have entrance music, what would it be?

What a great idea. Makes me want to carry my iPod with external speakers at all times.

It's not really "BOOM BOOM" energy-pumping music, but I'm partial to What a Wonderful World, Louis Armstrong rendition.

Lol I always change mine.......have tom bring his fanny pack speakers he has a shit load of songs on it and he played them during everybody at bat..................mine would be the theme to the nwo or all the single ladies (but I change the lyrics after that) 44

I would just like each of my steps to have the "cha...chunk cha...chunk" sound that was made each time that Robocop took a step. (I still think that sound was made by taking a school stapler, opening it up so it could staple flatways...and stapling something to the hall's display board outside the classroom.)

That's the sound I would like. :)

Apropos o' Nuthin' IX
Quite some time ago I saw a meme on one of the blogs I read... or maybe it was just a question. Anyhoo, the question was "if you could have a song played every time you entered a room, what would that song be?" I think my original answer was the first few bars of "Sympathy For The Devil," i.e., "Please allow me to introduce myself..." yadda, yadda. But I've reconsidered.

I want this piece o' music to announce my entrance:

http://youtu.be/Cdr42eqJoL0

Without the voice-over, of course. The "Nova" theme just might be a little over the top, but I love the music. How about you, Gentle Reader? What would be your personal "Hail to the Chief?"

Is the Nova theme "pompous and classical?" :-)

Damn, Buck, I plagiarized you. I apologize. I usually steal from sources who can't track me down so easily.

Every six or eight months, I'll hear something and say "I want this song to come on every time I enter a room."

But really, I think the song of choice kind of depends on the song.

...in fact, so much so, that I'm going to go make a blog post about it.

There's something to spend my weekend thinking about...

Led Zeppelin's "Immigrant Song." Actually, the opening is my cell phone's ring tone, so it really is my entrance song.

Post is up, and it's all Jim's fault.

Just try not tapping your toes when I enter the room with this one.

Gosh darn it.
Blooger screwed up my comment.
Edited it to the point where it didn't make a lot of sense.

Anyhow, Last evening I thought I wanted Ride of the Valkyries.

But, after sleeping on it, have now decided I want a more laid back On the Trail.

O/T - rumor has it there was an earthquake somewhere around here.

Glad to hear from you. It was a 5.7, with about 30 or 35 aftershocks? Yikes.

Suldog said...

OMG. Haven't heard that in years. GREAT song, very weird singer.

I should punch you in the nose for putting that last one in my head. However, I make it a habit not to punch my friends, especially the pretty female ones, so you get a pass - this time.

Hee-hee! Would you believe I never watched the movie because of the overplay of that song? Perhaps I'll change it to "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen. Almost everyone knows that song to get an earworm from it.

Mich said...

That is the perfect entrance theme for you. And I'm so glad I'm not the only one who thinks this! But perhaps you should have more than one entrance theme, so you can cover all different sorts of situations.

Mine would be something regal and faintly holy, like this:

I'd like to think I'm above picking my own entrance music

But I'm not

Just listen to this

Mine might be "Moves like Jagger" or Meredith Brook's "Bitch". :) Incidentally, I found out today that one of my customers is the head honcho for the Globe... I tried to pimp you out for a FT gig, but he had disappeared by the time I found out.

No worries though... I'll get him next time. :)

You're so funny. Now I am going to be forced to spend my holiday weedend trying to make this decision. Have a great w/e. And, thanks for screwing mine up! :)

Whoa, I spent a couple years in therapy to get to the place that I would not make an entrance, I always wanted to be left alone and to blend in. If I did have an entrance song it would be Amazing by Aerosmith.

Suldog said...

Let's turn this into an Abbott & Costello routine!

If I did have an entrance song it would be Amazing by Aerosmith.

Yeah, but what song would it be?

Amazing!

OK, I know your opinion of the song, but what SONG would it be?

etc.

This is fun. I too am going to ponder over that question...I have never thought of it before but I should have one..especially since I finished school recently. Classic rock is what I studied and worked by..
Everybody ought to have a maid is cute...are you wearing the toga too? lol

Cute bit, Sully.

I used to have 'Ob-la-di, Ob-la-da' as my cell-phone ring-tone; does that count?

Or, maybe, given my here-today-gone-tomorrow blogging habits, I should use 'Hello Goodbye'

(Altho there's a part of me that would say, 'Come and Get It' by Badfinger. Heh.)

Oh, man, I'm going to have to think about this and get back to you. "Witchy Woman" maybe? Nah, Elaine on Seinfeld already used that one. Hmmm...

I felt nothing here in Sacramento. Some did. Guess it wasn't too bad.

And Jim, I am going to have to think about your question. It's a good one. :)

Judi FitzPatrick said...

Thanks for asking the question, never thought about it before now.

Well I try to live by "Accentuate the Positive" so I guess that could be my entrance song!

Have a great weekend!

Peace, judi

This is a truly interesting question. It varies from situation to day to weather to...you know. But if I have to pick, I'll take Van Morrison: Tupelo Honey, baby.

Maggie May said...

I think that my entrance music would change from day to day.
I'm in a lazy mood right now, so I'd choose one of those relaxation tapes with the sound of the sea & waves sucking pebbles back & forth!
Nothing too dramatic!

c/m - My entrance would be "Celebration Time" and my exit song would be "Isn't She Lovely"

i agree with maggie, i reserve the right to change my entrance music based on mood .. tho the stripper keeps coming to mind ... ummmmm

"I Just Want to Celebrate". :-) Love the beginning...

good question! i've considered my exit music but not my entrance. hhmm...perhaps the opening notes to 2001 space odyssey and then i trip over myself, or maybe santana's jingo or something by prince.

it would either have to be highly danceable or something over the top pompous and then i do something completely ridiculous and nerdy.

Yikes! I have so many good choices to choose from.

1. Creep by Radiohead
2. Wind of Change Scorpions

Or...

3. One Thing by One Direction.

Shoot me now! heh heh

The carnivalistic quality of the tune would be so perfectly matched to your overall personality. Not to say I think of you as a Carnie or anything. I hope you know what I mean - there's a fun and breezy quality to the music that is so you. Now the lyrics...yeah, I suppose a maid would be nice but I'd rather have a pool boy.

Jenn Flynn-Shon said...

Oh & as far as an entrance song I'd just want the Bruins goal horn. Simple, ear-catching & overall effective at attracting attention.

I knew there was something lurking at the back of my mind and it has finally surfaced! Many years ago, I was a member of the darts team in the branch of the bank for which I worked. We played against teams from other branches and every time we entered to room we would whistle the Grand March from Aida. That was the year we came top of the league or won the knock-out or some such.

Jenny Woolf said...

I think my entrance music would change every day... which rather misses the point of it, doesn't it. But if I had to choose, I'd choose..... ummmmm.....no - a different thing every day is what it would be! :)
