What Do Your Hands Think You Look Like?

One of the folks featured on my sidebar, Ex-Shammickite, did a post concerning a photo she shot. The photo was of a group of self-portraits done by kids. Rather charming, and it gave me an idea for this space.

I will need your participation for this.

If you didn't run away, here's what I'd like you to do. Draw a self-portrait of yourself, then send it to me.

(Note: Unlike previous requests I made of you, I am not asking you to be naked. If you're willing to include that aspect, fine, but that's not what I'm looking for at the moment.)

Just draw your face, if you wish. Or you can try for the whole body. Whatever makes you comfortable. Then send it to me, as a .jpg or .gif or some other form of file that is e-mail possible. When I receive a decent amount of them, I'll publish them here.

I guarantee that I will make no facetious comments concerning your artistic abilities, nor will I denigrate your looks in any way. Be as serious or as frivolous as you wish.

In order to make this entirely fair to you, I will attempt to draw me. When you see how bad my artwork is, you'll rest easy concerning your own. I'll ask MY WIFE to draw herself, too, but she may or may not comply with the request. We'll see. It would be swell if she did. She's actually a decent artist. Well, she's decent compared to me, that's for sure.

Anyway, make a drawing and send it to:

Suldog@aol.com

In order to make this worth your while (aside from the inestimable thrill you'll receive from having your artwork appear in such an august place as my blog, which is actually a September place by now) I'll have some sort of prizes for everybody who submits a drawing, and extra-special stuff for those drawings I deem extra-special stuff worthy.

Let's set the deadline for the end of this week, Friday the 3rd. I'll publish everything I receive on Monday the 6th.

I think this will be fun. I hope you think so, too.

Soon, with your better stuff.

Ooooh thanks for the ad! Perhaps I'll get lots of comments now that the Great Sully had linked me to his blog!

Different sort of meme! Maybe a UU (you-you)! (As originally defined by Daryl)

Anyway, I'll see what I can do. Should be fun!

Since I have an excuse from using my right hand at the moment..I'll go with this, if it still works.
I look better as a Simpson anyway :)

Very cool idea, it'll be fun to put a self drawn face to all the names who comment here :)

Scarily I actually drew a pic of myself recently for a contest I entered. Don't get too excited, it was meant to be done sort of stick figure like.

Sending it now...oh & I LOVED that song you wrote (both parts but 2 was more heavy-esque)

shaking my head...

I'm a left-hander who uses the right side of my brain, and I tend to see myself so much prettier and smarter than I really am...this could be devastating.

hmmm...wonder if Michelle would swap out a quick little sketch for, let’s say a collage?...don’t mind me, just thinking aloud. ;)

Happy to be involved. Thanks for notifying me - haven't had a chance to check my blogs yet. Sounds like fun.

You have me rustling about for a drawing that was required at the start of a wonderful course of study. The purpose was to develop the "right hemisphere" brain functions of the student by focusing on development of artistic abilities. The end of the course was to include a second effort at self-portraiture. I only got as far as the beginning ... scary stuff indeed! I will send it if I can locate it.

This sounds vaaareee interesting! I have a 4 day show starting Thursday...so if it's boring, I'll draw! I used to have my 2nd and 3rd graders do this. You can learn a lot about a person this way. Hey....is that what you're up to, Suldog?? Are you gonna 'analyze' us??!! Oh my!

Suldog, I cast around wanting to read something good, interesting, different...and then I come here. Shoulda come here in the first place. Not playing though. My drawing sucks.

Ack.. I can't draw anything recognizable.... In this case, maybe that's a good thing. I'll give it a shot.. mebbe.

OK, I've received ONE so far. Two if you count Tara's "Simpsonized" version of herself (which I do.) MY WIFE and I will be doing one each, so that's four.

Send 'em! Don't worry about how well or how poorly you can draw! I'll be kind.

BWAH-HA-HA!

(Oops! Did I say that out loud! Shoot!)

Won't your blog be an October place by the time everyone submits their entries?

A self-portrait of me? Can't you just take the naked photo and slap the picture of me from my blog and call it a day?

I hate drawing people...

This will be interesting. I haven't tried to draw a face since high school. And high school was SO last century.
